Where is it held?
The summer track and field program is held from October through to early March. Competition is primarily held at the Wodonga Athletic Complex, Pearce St, Wodonga with some competition at Alexandra Park, Cadell St, Albury. Check the Calendar for more details. Click here for Contact form
How much does athletics cost?
Wodonga Athletics Club (WAC) membership fees for 2024/2025 season:
- Junior athlete - $80 - under 20 as at 31st Dec. 2024
- Senior athlete - $120 - 21 & over as at 31 Dec. 2024
- Family membership - $250 - 2x senior members and 1 child. Each additional junior member $25.
- All classes include AV Recreational Runner membership
Athletics Victoria membership and fees 2024/2025
See AV membership faq www.athsvic.org.au for additional categories of AV membership. These are required if athletes wish to compete at AV Shield, Country &/or State Junior & Open Championships. Upgrades to your membership can be made during the seasion via the WAC registration portal.
WAC weekly competition fees:
Members – no cost (this includes members of LA)
Non-members $10 (a maximum of 2 meets) (Member for a Day)
Wodonga Athletic Club members receive discounts to enter WAC fun run events.
Can you try athletics before joining?
For insurance purposes, non-members can trial at 2 Wodonga Aths competitions before becoming a member. A $10 fee along with a “Member for a Day” form must be completed prior to competition and is available from the committee.
How old do you need to be before joining?
An athlete must be turning 12 during the competition year to join Wodonga Athletic Club. All junior members must be accompanied by a parent at all times while in attendance at weekly programs and training. Little Athletics is available locally with the three Little Athletics Centres: Wodonga, Albury and Lavington/Jindera. Contact information can be obtained from the Little Athletics Victoria.
Is there any training provided?
Free training sessions are conducted every Tuesday and Thursday, for club members, check Programs for updates.
What events are organised or coordinated by the club?
- Track & Field competative program (October through to April)
- Wodonga Athletic Club 10km Championship (November)
- Baker Motors 5km Handicap (December) Sumsion Gardens
- Cumberoona Fun Run (March) Norieul Park
- Commercial Club Classic (July) Baranduda
- Camper Trailers Albury Wodonga 5KM Handicap Series (January – February). Venues include: Sumsion Gardens, Rail Trail & Wodonga Athletic Complex
- Don Sparks Steel Supplies Pentathlon Championship (in T&F program)
- Relay Day (in T&F program)
- Wodonga Gift (February) 100m Handicap
- 60m Handicap (in T&F program)
- Members are encouraged to represent the club at the Victorian Country Championships (Australia Day weekend) as well as other Athletics Victoria events held throughout the year
What track and field events are provided during the summer season
- Throws: shot put, discus, javelin, hammer
- Running: Sprints - 60m, 100m, 200m, 400m - middle distance: 800m, 1500m - distance 3000m, 5000m, 10,000m, steeplechase, hurdles
- Jumps: high jump, long jump, triple jump, pole vault
- Extended events: 100m gift, pentathlon, relays (for teams and individuals): throws (discus, javelin, shot put), sprints (100m, 200m, 400m), Swedish and medley, middle distance (800m, 1500m), jumps (TJ, HJ, LJ).
